"Yaboty"

Biosphere Reserve

The Yaboty Biosphere Reserve, created by Provincial Law Nº 3041 and its regulatory Decree Nº 2472/93, is located between the municipalities of San Pedro and El Soberbio including also the Provincial Moconá Park and the Provincial Esmeralda Park.

The Biosphere Reserve Yaboty is extending for along 253.773 ha.

There are a lot of courses of water such as Yaboty’s stream, PepiriGuazu, Paradise, the Uruguay river and part of El Soberbio’s stream.

This reserve was declared by UNESCU in 1995, is cross-border with the Stadual Park do Turvo in Brazil, it’s in the heart of Biosphere Reserve of the Atlantic Forest of that country.

Biosphere Reserves are "areas Ecosystems" recognized under MAB (Man And Boisphere) of the UNESCO.

The feature that make the difference between these systems from other types of protected areas is the principle that local people must play a constructive role and not be excluded from the management unit.
